I’m Going to Pakistan

I am going to Pakistan tomorrow as a part of Seeds of Peace Homestay Program. I will be going there for a week and will be staying at my friend’s place. I’m so excited… I will meet my Pakistani friends after 2 long years. WOW! The day I have been desperately waiting for has arrived.

And about the blog, I will “try” to write from there about my experiences. No regular posts for a week. Sorry, you all have to wait for some time. And about the tag, Kapil, I will be writing it after coming back, surely. Thanks for tagging me, once again.

Last Person Standing

Bullets flying above my head,
The atmosphere is filled with hatred and dread.
Hours of toil, pools of blood,
Bomb shells lying scattered in the mud.

Standing in the midst of violence,
Hoping that the killing ends and there’ll be silence.
Thinking of the days when there was no fear,
Wondering when the dove of peace will spread it’s wings here.

I hope this land regains its lost calm,
And the people loiter fearlessly around.
Why don’t they work for peace as they fight in war?
After all, isn’t it peace that we all want?

Note: This poem was written by me and 3 more of my friends in a Seeds of Peace meeting.

Marine Drive

For the Pakistan Home Stay program all the seeds in Mumbai had to select an area in Mumbai and click the pictures of that area. I chose Marine Drive. Now a little bit on Marine Drive for those who haven’t visited Mumbai. Marine Drive is a 3 km long boulevard in South Mumbai. The road links Nariman Point to Babulnath and Malabar Hill. Marine Drive is situated over reclaimed land and the bay is part of the Arabian Sea. The road is lined with palm trees. At the northern end of Marine Drive is Chowpatty Beach. This is a popular beach famed for its Bhel puri (local fast food). The wide footpath is a jogging track for many joggers. Early in the morning people come to Marine Drive for jogging, walking and exercising. Many hotels dot the drive, most prominent among them being The Hilton Towers (formerly the Oberoi), The Intercontinental, Hotel Marine Plaza and a few other smaller hotels. It is also know as the Queen’s Necklace because if viewed at night from an elevated point anywhere along the drive, the streetlights resemble a string of pearls.

I woke up at 6 am in the morning and went there with my dad. I clicked many pictures; all on my own. Seriously. Only a little bit of help from my dad about positioning. I have only uploaded a few pictures worthy of showing them to you all. Here is where you can see my pictures.

I am sure you have the time to leave behind a comment or two on how the pictures were. Can I chose Photography as my career? Never mind that. My mind is very unstable.
