My meeting with Truth

In the present world of terrorism, cruelty and injustice, I recently had a meeting with a simple kind of truth. Though it would not make sense to a layperson but it has changed the way I think. After the short meeting, I have started believing that truth still exists in some form. It may be practiced by following Gandhi’s principles (it’s only for the strong minded) or by simply selling an article at the right price.

On my way back from my badminton practice for a tournament, I stopped at a grocery shop for a gum. I saw it’s commercial and it looked damn tasty. I tasted one and it was really awesome. So, I bought four more. I gave the shopkeeper Rs. 5/- at the price Re. 1/- each. I heard someone call me from a distance. The sound was familiar. I turned and I was about to leave the shop, but the shop associate stopped me and took the gums from my hand. He was the same one standing next to me during my purchase. I was scared. What did I do? Did I forget to pay? I was totally sure that neither did I fail pay the shopkeeper nor did I utter any shit in the shop. He picked up one packet of gum and showed it to me. It did not contain any gum; it was empty. The man immediately gave me a new one and threw away the hollow packet. I came out of the shop with mixed emotions. I was shocked and thankful. I turned my head and gave him the biggest smile ever. He returned my smile with a bigger smile.

I gave this incident a thought. I thought how honest he was. Along with being honest, he was observant. He noticed that I had picked an empty packet and he immediately changed it. This man wanted to help and he did so without expecting anything in return. This meeting with truth changed my thinking. I now believe that truth and honesty still exist in this cruel world.

    Hi,

In this world the good co-exists with the bad. You find what you are looking for. Goodness is available plentiful in this world. The sceptics who complain that the world has become a bad place are just not looking in the right place. Bye and take care. By the way I wrote to Jammy and he has promised to send the DD to me. I might gift you the money if you write a good piece.
