Rain, Rain, Go Away

It has started raining in Mumbai!
Rains give relief from the hot summer Sun, but this rain is getting just too much.

It was a sunny Sunday when I had my English test. The sun was shining brightly till around 7; but after that it started raining heavily. I put on my favorite raincoat on and left my house at 8:30 AM. It was still raining. I reached safely to the place where I had to give my test. The test was easy and I think I can score well in this paper. The room in which I was seated was sound proof and so I could not hear the sound of even a single raindrop. When the paper got over and I walked down the stairs slowly with my sad face (we got our Science mark and I did not score well). It was still raining; and this time it was heavier than ever before. I got a reason to put on my favorite raincoat again.

I started walking slowly towards my house. And there lay a mini Venice ahead of me. I did not have a gondola and had to walk the whole distance down with my folded pants and my new pair of shoes in my hand. This was my worst experience with rain till now. As I dragged myself closer to my house the water level went on increasing till it reached my waist. Against my will, I had to walk in the muddy rainwater. I would have stepped on every possible thing that I would never even think of stepping without the rainwater.

Below are some pictures of my experience with the rain with my Sony Ericsson Z550i

Make your computer fast

Does your computer take hell lot of a time to start?

Well, below are some easy steps to make your computer fast.

1. Applications in the sysTray.
The sysTray is the area in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Each icon you see there is running in memory. I recommend right clicking on each icon that you do not need and click on exit. Though this would only disable the application for the current session.

2. Disabling startup icons forever.
Follow the steps given below:
Open the Start Menu -> click on Run -> type “msconfig” -> click on Startup -> uncheck all the applications you don’t want to see at the start -> click on Apply -> click on OK -> click on Restart.
The next time you start your computer, you won’t see those applications.

3. Deleting unwanted applications during startup.
Follow the steps given below:
My Computer -> Local Disk (C:) -> Documents and Settings -> All Users -> Start Menu -> Programs -> Startup -> and delete all the unwanted applications.
AND
My Computer -> Local Disk (C:) -> WINDOWS -> Tasks -> delete all the unwanted applications.

4. Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date.
Make sure your ant-virus software is up to date and is able to detect new viruses and delete them. There are new viruses coming up very often. Due to latest updates your anti-virus can keep your computer away from malicious viruses.

Magic on your phone

Below are some tricks; rather I would say magical tricks to make your handset safe and useful. These are only for Indian cell phone users though.

No Coverage: Do you get irritated when you want to make that important call but you are stuck in a no coverage zone? Dial 122. Your cell phone will search for existing networks and will establish contact. The amazing thing is that this can also be typed on a locked keypad.

Stolen Mobile: Type *#06# on your cell phone. A 15-digit code will appear on your screen. Note the code down on a safe and an easily accessible paper. If you lose your phone, your service provider can use this number to lock your phone. Your phone won’t work even if someone changes the SIM!

Low/No Battery: Nokia phones have reserve battery capacity. This can be accessed by dialing *3370#. The phone restarts and with a 50% increase in battery life!

I’m going to Pakistan!

I am going to Pakistan in the month of August. I will be there from 16th to 22nd.

You might think that there are many other places, why only Pakistan? I am going there through an organization called Seeds of Peace.

Now what the hell is Seeds of Peace?
“Seeds of Peace” is a non-government, non-profit organization in Maine, U.S.A.
As the name suggests, it tries to spread the message of peace in the world. Teenagers from all over the world are selected to represent their respective countries. India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Balkans, Cyprus and America are the countries involved. The students of conflicting countries are kept together in the same bunk to sleep (of course with different beds), same table for breakfast, lunch and dinner, same activities and are made to interact with the each other and put forth their ideas. This organization strives to foster PEACE, FRIENDSHIP and RESPECT for each other’s opinions.
I went to this camp in 2006. I can feel the change in my life, my thinking and my behavior.

Going to the camp and meeting friends from Pakistan and having fun is not the end of it. There are regular meetings held on every alternate Sundays. Also there are home-stays held every year. That means that every year, seeds from India go to Pakistan (as I am going) and they stay with their friends there. Staying with their families, knowing their way of life helps in making peace much more efficiently than just sitting on a wooden chair in the office and signing some stupid peace treaties.

So, I am going for the same thing to Pakistan. I am exited at the same time anxious. I have always wished to visit Pakistan once. It is indeed a beautiful country.

And hey, wish me luck.

Mom you don’t understand

Mother is a female parent.
Mother is a female who gives birth to a child. A child is closest to his/her mother and visa-verse.

According to me, a Mother is a fulltime working homemaker. The job of a Mother, I think, is the highest paid among all the other jobs because all a Mother gets as payment for her job is love, love and more love from her family.

During a late night family T.V. show, if mom says “Good night”, notice it for yourself, she will do a hundred other things and then will put off her night lamp. First she will check if the main door is properly locked, then she will check if her child is yet doing his homework or if his school bag is properly packed or is the child’s pencil properly sharpened. Then she will go to the kitchen and will turn off all the lights. Later she will go to her room, brush her teeth, apply some weird skin guard and at last she will go to sleep. This was a Mother’s ‘Good night’. While if dad says “Good night”, notice it for yourself, he will straight away march into his room and will go to sleep.

Mother takes care of her children and helps them to grow into mature and responsible human beings. A Mother loves her children the most and for a Mother her children are everything.

One of my friends e-mailed me an article on ‘Mothers’ and one thing in the mail that forced me to write this post was,‘‘When we were learning to speak, mom understood everything we tried to say. Today we say a lot and claim that ‘Mom you don’t understand!’ Can you justify that?’’
